1. Have the customer log in
Ask your customer to visit app.vanillapos.io and log in using their customer email and password.
If they don’t remember their password, they can select Forgot Password and follow the instructions to reset it.
2. Open Payment Options
Have the customer select Payment Options in the left-hand sidebar.
3. Add a payment method
Ask them to select + Add Payment Method.
4. Enter payment details
The customer can enter their card or bank account details, then select Save.
For Canadian customers: Interac cards cannot be used for recurring subscription payments. Ask the customer to use a card that supports recurring payments.
If they’re prompted to complete additional verification, they should follow the instructions provided.
5. Set the default payment method
When the customer returns to the payment methods page, have them locate the method they added and select Make Default beneath it.
Ask them to check that it is shown as their default payment method.
Follow up on existing billing issues
If these steps are being completed to resolve a billing issue, ask the customer to let you know once their default payment method is in place.
You can then review their subscriptions and outstanding invoices, and coordinate any necessary billing updates with Vanilla support.
What can customers manage in the portal?
Customers can add or remove payment methods, change their default payment method, and change the payment method associated with an individual subscription.
Changing or removing a payment method does not cancel a subscription. Customers cannot cancel subscriptions through the portal and should contact your business directly to request cancellation.
