Creating a product in VanillaPOS allows you to sell goods or services directly through your POS terminal.
Follow the steps below to create a new product:
1. Navigate to the Products Tab
From the left-hand sidebar, click on Products.
Click Add New Product.
2. Enter Basic Product Details
In the pop-up modal:
Thumbnail/Image (optional): Upload an image of the product.
Product Name: Enter the name of the product.
Description (optional): Add a description for internal use.
Product Type: Select Good or Service.
3. Set Pricing
Price: Base price of the product.
Sale Price (optional): Overrides the base price if set.
Taxable: Enable this if the item is subject to sales tax.
Variable Price (optional):
Allows price to be set at checkout.
Define a Minimum Price and/or Maximum Price if needed.
4. Manage Inventory
Inventory Count: Enter the quantity available.
Or enable Infinite Availability for items without stock limits.
Note: Refunds do not automatically restock inventory.
5. Assign Tax Code & UPC (Optional)
Tax Code: Enter if needed for accounting or compliance.
UPC Code:
Auto-generate or enter a custom code.
Use this to print scannable barcodes for checkout.
Barcodes can be downloaded as a PDF and printed on stickers.
6. Save the Product
Click Save to add the product to your catalog. It will be immediately available for use in your terminal.
