The Home Screen

This article covers the Home screen of your Vanilla point-of-sale system.

The VanillaPOS Home screen is consistent across mobile phones, tablets and S700 devices, ensuring a seamless user experience no matter what hardware you’re using, and can always be accessed from other screens via the home icon in the upper left hand corner.


Home Screen Sections & Features

Location & Device Information

  • Location Name: Shown at the top under the company icon.

  • Address: The full address of the active store location is displayed.

  • Device Name: Located near the bottom of the screen.

Date & Time

  • Located at the top-right corner, this section shows the current time and date, which is helpful for managing shift timing and reconciling daily totals.

Sales Summary

Just below the location details, you’ll see:

  • Total Sales: The full amount processed through the device that day.

  • Total Tips: All tips received through the terminal for that day.

Please Note: This section updates live as sales are completed.

Action Buttons

The main screen includes quick access tiles for core functions:

  • Charge

    Start a new transaction to accept payments from a customer.

  • Products

    Browse and select items from your catalog to add to a sale.

  • Transactions

    View a list of all transactions processed on the device. Useful for verifying past payments.

  • Refunds

    Initiate refunds on completed transactions, either in full or in part.

Additional Options

  • Settings

    Tap this icon to access your VanillaPOS settings, including connected device management, transaction settings and location details. Learn more about the VanillaPOS settings section here

  • Switch User

    Tap this icon to log out and let another team member log in.

  • End of Day Settle

    When you’re closing out for the day, tap this button to settle all transactions and generate end-of-day reporting data.
