Account Restrictions allow Organization Admins to centrally govern how an individual account creates and manages products, subscriptions, and discounts.
Access Account Restrictions
To configure restrictions:
Sign in to the Vanilla Dashboard as an Organization Admin.
Open Organization Accounts.
Select the account you want to manage.
Open the Account Restrictions tab.
Enable or disable the available actions.
Save your changes.
Available Restrictions
Depending on your organization configuration, you can control whether the account can:
Create products
Duplicate products
Create subscriptions
Create discounts
When an action is disabled, the corresponding option is no longer available to users working within that account.
Organization Admins can continue managing organization-controlled products and settings from the organization level.
Requiring Accounts to Use Approved Products
Account Restrictions can be used with Catalog Management to create a controlled product workflow.
For example:
Enable Catalog Management.
Create a catalog containing approved products and subscriptions.
Make the catalog available for manual selection.
Disable product and subscription creation for the account.
Optionally disable product duplication.
Account users can then add approved items from the catalog without creating unsupported products.
Account Restrictions and User Permissions
Account Restrictions and user permissions serve different purposes.
User permissions control what an individual user or role can access.
Account Restrictions control which capabilities are available to the account as a whole.
A user cannot perform an action that has been disabled for the account, even when that user would otherwise have product-management access.
